2015 Rockin’ on the Riverfront Summer Concert Series
Rockin’ on the Riverfront, the annual FREE concert series (no tickets necessary) has returned for its 10th season to the Detroit Riverfront this summer, welcoming crowds every Friday night for classic rock and roll revelry in Detroit. Brought to you by GM, Rockin’ on the Riverfront is set to amaze audiences of all ages with shows running from 8-10 p.m. every Friday night through August 21.
Please note that if you set up lawn chairs in the General Admission seating area prior to 5:00 p.m., your chairs are subject to being moved to another location.
Catch a concert and enjoy food and beverages available at concession stands on the Riverfront Plaza, or dine al fresco at Joe Muer Seafood or Andiamo Detroit Riverfront. Continue the fun after the show with a late dinner, dessert or drinks at Coach Insignia or Volt Lounge. The General Motors Rockin’ on the Riverfront concert series has partnered with Wallace Guitars in celebration of the event’s tenth anniversary to create a one-of-a-kind guitar commemorating this milestone year. Founded in 2014 by Mark Wallace, Wallace Detroit Guitars creates quality instruments from reclaimed wood of Detroit buildings, and now is your chance to own a piece of rockin’ Detroit history!

Here are a few fun facts about this custom-made six string:
HISTORY: The wood in the GM Rockin’ on the Riverfront commemorative guitar was pulled from the old Cadillac stamping plant located at 9501 Connor Street in Detroit.
AESTHETIC: The guitar is cut on a CNC router and features historic stains, nail holes and scars highlighting the wood’s history and giving it an raw Detroit feel. It is finished by hand with nitrocellulose lacquer.
TIME: The guitar was handcrafted in 12 hours.
QUANTITY: Wallace Detroit Guitars launched in October 2014 and has sold 52 guitars to-date. This commemorative guitar is the fifty-third.
UNIQUENESS: The guitar commemorates the tenth anniversary with a special pick guard featuring the concert series logo and a collection of autographs from the seven 2015 headliners.
FUNCTIONALITY: The reclaimed wood in this guitar comes from old-grown forests, and offers great density for resonance. Plus, all Wallace Detroit guitars feature modern electronics. Simply put, it produces a similar sound to the classic guitars of the 1950s and 1960s.

Admission to the concerts is always free and no tickets are necessary. Viewing space is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, but outside food, beverages and coolers are not permitted. In addition, boaters on the Detroit River are welcome to anchor near the riverfront and enjoy the shows from the water. Discount parking will be available in the GM Lot for $5. Please note that the $5 parking in the GM Lot is only available after 5:30 p.m. Beaubien Parking, Port Atwater and Miller Parking Garages will be available at regular rates. 10th Anniversary Rockin’ on the Riverfront T-shirts are available for purchase ($15 each) at Calumet Market & Spirits, located in Tower 300 on Level 1, as well as at the Andiamo table in the GM Wintergarden on the night of the concert.
Andiamo Detroit Riverfront will provide refreshments and food concessions at several locations across the plaza. Andiamo Detroit Riverfront and Joe Muer Seafood will accept dinner reservations before and after the concert and both restaurants offer outdoor patios overlooking the Detroit River and the General Motors Rockin’ on the Riverfront stage. Or enjoy artful dishes at Coach Insignia, with unparalleled views of the riverfront and Canada from 72 stories high.
