Belle Isle Park Detroit, Michigan

Belle Isle Park, sometimes known as Belle Isle, is a 982-acre island park in Detroit, Michigan that was built in the late 1800s. It comprises of Belle Isle, a Detroit River island, as well as many nearby islands. Because the US-Canada boundary is located in the strait south of Belle Isle, the island is not part of Canada.

Belle Isle, which was once a city park and is now owned by the city of Detroit, is managed as a state park by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources under a 30-year lease that began in 2013. After Grosse Ile and Fighting Island, Belle Isle Park is the largest city-owned island park in the United States, and Belle Isle is the third largest island in the Detroit River.

The Belle Isle Aquarium, Belle Isle Conservatory, Belle Isle Nature Center, James Scott Memorial Fountain, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a municipal golf course, a half-mile swimming beach, and numerous other monuments and attractions are all located inside Belle Isle Park. A Coast Guard station is also located there. The Detroit Yacht Club is on a nearby island that is linked to Belle Isle by a bridge.
